We decided to install a electric solar fence for our beekeeping area and we were very impressed with the results. Wild bears would create a huge problem for us protecting our hives. The solar electric fence solved this problem and now our honey yield has increased significantly. The folks at Okanagan Fence Supplies were very helpful and guided us every step of the way.

If it’s cloudy, how long will the battery on my system last?
Battery life will vary depending on the length and load of the fence you’re powering. Our solar electric fence systems come with a heavy-duty 12-volt battery, which is powered by the solar panel. Even if it’s cloudy, the battery stores the charge, and can keep the system running for about a week.
If I don’t use all the power braid rope, what do I do with the extra?
When you’re done, remove the reel with the powerbraid rope from the Power Arm and leave it at the final fence post where your fence ends, don’t cut the rope. The reel is made of insulated plastic, so it won’t cause a short. Just hang it off a fence post, and make sure no tall grass or fence wire will touch it, as that may cause it to short.
How much fence can a solar electric fence system electrify?
It depends on the system. The Razer Grazer, Bison Grazer and Shepherd Grazer all come with a 3-joule energizer, which can energize up to 30 km of fence, in perfect conditions with no shorts and energy leakage. The Power Grazer comes with a 6-joule energizer, which will energize up to 60 km of fence.
Can the solar electric fence system be transported on highways?
The Bison Grazer, Shepherd Grazer, and Razer Grazer come with a 2 inch ball receiver for hauling behind your truck. The Power Grazer has a 3 point hitch, so it can be transported with a farm
How do I winterize my solar electric fence system?
Put your system in storage to keep snow off it if possible (e.g. in a barn), and then ensure the battery is fully charged and take off one terminal otherwise it will drain down and possibly damage the battery.
How many ground rods do I need?
The number of ground rods is dependent on:
- soil conditions (e.g. more dry soil needs more ground rods)
- soil composition (e.g. sandy soils need more ground rods).
- length of the fence
- size of the energizer (an energizer with more joules needs more ground rods)
- season of use (dry ground and frozen ground do not conduct well, so you’ll need more ground rods or, in summer, pour water on your ground rods to improve conductivity)
What does the fencing system come with?
Chargers, wire, posts — everything you need to start.
Can I add more fencing for larger fields?
How much is shipping?
How fast can I get it?
How do I pay?
For high-value systems, payment is arranged with Lee directly (wire, cheque, or e-transfer). Smaller accessories can be ordered online. If you’re purchasing both, we’ll bundle everything into your custom quote for convenience.
Can I mix accessories with a custom quote?
Do you offer refunds or returns?
We do not offer refunds or returns on purchases. However, certain items may include a manufacturer’s warranty, depending on the product. If you experience any issues, we’re happy to help you confirm warranty coverage and guide you through the next steps.
Can you help with installation?
Yes, if you need help with your installation, give us a call and we’ll give you advice no problem. If you need a custom, fully installed system, we offer that on a limited basis, so mention it on your quote form and we can see how we can help!
